Breaking into the film industry is easy, right?
When you dream of being a filmmaker you probably imagine diving straight into bringing the next big-budget film to life. But in reality, unless your uncle is a Producer at Netflix, you need to start small. So let us present to you our pathway to achieving your dreams. Let's start with an overview of the role of short films in breaking into the film industry.
Short films are how you get your name out there.
They’re short enough for people to warrant sitting through them and seeing what you have to offer without committing too much of their time to something they can’t possibly know the quality of. Think of them as the film production version of a resume. It’s a quick, easy, way to see what you bring to the table before committing more time to looking at the broader picture.
Creativity is born of constraint.
The limitations imposed in the production of a short film force you to push your creativity beyond what is good, what is mediocre to perhaps something great and remarkable. You must find a way to make a compelling and meaningful story, in just a handful of pages. There is no better way to develop your storytelling craft.
The film industry is cutthroat.
All aspects of filmmaking are highly competitive and the vast majority of movie makers never get to see their work on the silver screen. That’s where Red Diesel Production comes in.
