Breaking into the film industry is easy. Right?
When you dream of being a filmmaker you probably imagine diving straight into bringing the next big-budget film to life. But in reality, unless your uncle is a Producer at Netflix, you need to start small. So let us present to you our pathway to achieving your dreams. Let's start with an overview of the role of short films in breaking into the film industry - and there are many reasons why you should start with short films!
Short films are how you get your name out there.
They’re short enough for people to warrant sitting through them and seeing what you have to offer without committing too much of their time to something they can’t possibly know the quality of. Think of them as the film production version of a resume. It’s a quick, easy, way to see what you bring to the table before committing more time to looking at the broader picture.
Creativity is born of constraint.
Because short films are so limited, they force you out of your box. Since the whole project is condensed, you have to find a way to make a compelling and meaningful story, and you’re pressured to let your creative juices go to work making the most of each moment. Essentially, this is a way to test your skills and develop your craft on top of adding to your portfolio.
The film industry is cutthroat.
It’s highly competitive, the vast majority of pitches never gain steam, and you’ll have to crawl and clamber if you want to make it to the top. That’s where Red Diesel Production comes in! We’re a short film production services company in NJ, a stepping stone for your filmmaking career.

We work with aspiring film production professionals just like you to help develop their craft. Our clients are of all ages and backgrounds, if you have a story to tell, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced in your filmmaking skills, we’re here to help. Filmmaking Education.
You can go to a film school and learn everything by the books, but like many career paths, that doesn’t always put you in a position to succeed. It just gives you the standard tools to try. With Red Diesel Production, you dive right into the art of filmmaking and start developing real skills whether you are a beginner or an advanced filmmaker. You simply can’t get the same hands-on, practical, experience from a film school environment. But whether you’re a film school graduate looking to get started, or you’re trying to take your hobby to a professional level, making a short film with Red Diesel Production is the best way to elevate yourself to success.
